AVR/ATmega/ATtiny Standalone Programmer for programming AVR Devices Without a Computer. Just load the hex files and set up configuration with a terminal program (For best results, use TeraTerm), the programmer now operates as a standalone programmer.
Great for mass production programming or for updating devices for customers. If you need to program multiple devices with the same code, this programmer really simplifies the operation! Programs and Verifies Flash, Eeprom, Fuses, and Lock Bits. Each operation can be enabled or disabled in the configuration.
AVR/ATmega/ATtiny Standalone Programmer is most convenient for programming the bootloader in brand new chips. Just load the flash and fuses in the programmer. Now you can just leave the bootloader code stored in the programmer for multiple uses. The bootloader programs a new chip in just a few seconds!
The AVR Standalone Programmer uses the standard 10 pin ISP connector configuration. An ISP cable is include with the programmer.
In 2008, I needed a way to program a solar-powered sensing device on my property 350' away from any power source. I did not want to bring my expensive laptop outside every time, nor did I want to bring all the cables, power supply, etc.
So I developed the first version, and from there were 5 more versions this one being the latest with support for more devices.
You do need a computer to set it up initially. I like to use TeraTerm for best results. Once set up, the AVR Standalone Programmer runs from the target power or a USB power supply. The data (Flash, Eeprom, Fuse and Lock bits) are stored in the programmers memory indefinitely or until they are changed. Standalone operation is invoked when jumper J1 is installed. I have used this programmer a thousand times because of its simplicity and reliability.
The AVR Standalone ISP Programmer can also be password protected for preventing unauthorized usage.
