This programmer is a Dual Mode UPDI Standalone Fuse Repair Programmer, no PC connection necessary. It will recover the fuses to factory defaults even if you programmed the UPDI pin as a GPIO.
This programmer must power your target and will run only at 5V.
The Dual Mode UPDI Standalone Fuse Repair Programmer will inject a 12 Volt pulse to the device in order to re-enable the UPDI function. Next, it will reprogram the fuses to factory defaults. Only devices in the device list below are supported.
I was looking for an easier way (as always) to recover from a catastrophic fuse programming mishap without having to spend hundreds of dollars!
The Dual Mode UPDI Standalone Fuse Repair Programmer uses the UPDI one wire interface. Similar to my other programmer here, except that this one works in both 3 wire mode and 4 wire mode. All that is required for connection in three wire mode are: VCC, GND and UPDI. All that is required for connection in four wire mode are: VCC, GND, UPDI and Reset. A cable is included with the programmer.
Easily switch modes by installing or removing jumper J2.
Jumper J2 off = 3 wire mode.
Jumper J2 on = 4 wire mode.
Its Easy! Just watch the video. In one second you will recover your device. With chip shortages these days, it may be impossible to replace the chip if you accidentally disable the UPDI interface. With this programmer you can recover all of your bricked chips in just a few minutes. The programmer pays for itself in just a few uses. If you want to read the code from a device where the UPDI pin has been disabled, install J1 jumper to skip the erase operation (ATtiny only). If the lock bits are programmed, this will not work and the erase operation must be enabled. Once restored, you can now read the code with your UPDI programmer.
There are four ERROR codes that the programmer produces from the LED's when the programming session is complete.
Yellow LED flashes 2 times, Chip is locked. This error only occurs if you installed J1 jumper and the chip is locked.
Yellow LED flashes 3 times, there is a UPDI Communication error. You have not connected the wires correctly, or there is no device present or your device is irreparable.
Yellow LED flashes 4 times, you are trying to program a device that is not supported. Please read the device list below.
Yellow LED ON (no flashing), the fuses did not verify after programming.
Green LED on, (no flashing). Success! you recovered your device!
Rest assured if you buy this item you will receive email support for any devices you can't program. I am the originator of this item, not a reseller so you will always receive an honest, quick/direct response to any questions you may have.
When buying a cheap item from China and you ask the seller a simple question, do you quickly receive a straight answer? Probably not. Most of the time the seller doesn't even know what he/she is even selling and cannot offer any type of support (even if there was no language barrier).
For any questions, just send me an email message here or look for the email address in the user guide you downloaded. I usually respond immediately and I will do my best to help you successfully program your device.
