The MIDI Module V1.1 allows you to connect your Teensy, Arduino, Rasbperry Pi or any other Evalboard to your MIDI controllable synthesizer, drum machine or musical instruments.

Connect your supply voltage to Pin 1 VCC and Ground to Pin 2 GND. Any voltage between 3,3V and 5V is possible. The MIDI-Part always runs with 5V to ensure compatibility with the standard.

Pin 3 MIDI IN >>> is an output. It sends out any signals you send via MIDI cable to the MIDI-IN-Port of the module. The level depends on the power supply:

• If VCC is 3,3V, Pin 3 puts out 3,3V signals.
• If VCC is 5V, Pin 3 puts out 5V signals.

Connect this output port to the input of your hardware (in most cases this will be a UART) and set the speed to 31.250Hz.

Pin 4 MIDI OUT <<< is an input and takes signals from your hardware and routes them to the MIDI OUT-Port. Anything above typ. 2,45V will be recognized as HIGH.

To summarize:

• Pin 1: VCC / 3,3V or 5V
• Pin 2: GND / Ground
• Pin 3: MIDI IN >>> / Output / sends out signals which enter MIDI-IN
• Pin 4: <<< MIDI OUT / Input / signals applied here will be transmitted via MIDI-OUT

One of the pictures shows as an example the connection to the RX and TX of the Teensy 3.2 where you only have to route VCC. The Teensy 3.2 and the Breadboard ar not included in the delivery.

The MIDI Module 1.1 comes assembled and tested.

Updates from the MIDI Module 1.0:

• Four pins instead of six
• The pins are now below the module for better connection to a breadboard
• Pin grid changed to the more common 2,54mm instead of 2,00mm
• Charge Pump changed, this one works now with 5V as well (although this should work with the old V1.0 module as well)
