Read More…This is a low filament detector base on the ATtiny13 – 8-bit AVR Microcontroller for your 3d printer. When your filament runs out the sensor will sound the alarm and flash the RGB LED, with the correct firmware modifications and GCode, will giving you time to reload your filament.
This sensor works with all available materials and is compatible with the 3D printer controller boards listed below, with correct firmware settings, the printing will be paused until the operator reload the filament and resume the printing.
NOTE: To use this sensor you will need to enable the filament runout feature in Marlin and upload the new config to your 3D printer
The sensor will put the printer on standby allowing the operator to change or fix the filament and continue printing without the need to restart from scratch.

This Filament Runout Sensor will save you time and money when your printer run out of filament and you still a few hours away from completing your precious 3D print, with correct firmware modification and settings, the printing will be paused until the operator reload the filament and resume the printing.
This sensor is not just another limit switch connected with a buzzer making noise if your 3D printer runs out of filament, this sensor contains an ATtiny13 – 8-bit AVR Microcontroller as the brain and once the printer's firmware is configured and uploaded to your printer, Marlin will send M600 gcode to change the filament spool once the sensor is triggered.
This sensor can also be daisy-chain to handle as many extruders you have on your 3D printer and manage the filament spools independently if any of your filaments run out, Marlin will get notified as the sensor gets trigger and pause your printer without any additional configuration and using only the Z+ port on your board.
