Read More…This RPi HAT was designed for Home Assistant project in order to connect physical sensors (PIR, Magnetic) to Raspberry board directly. This board allows to connect safely almost any binary state sensor to RPi GPIOs. Moreover this board is equipped with a 5V/3A DC/DC converter, which provides stable power supply for Raspberry board in a 12VDC environment.
I decided to upgrade my old alarm system with a RPi based Home Assistant + Alarmo server and for this reason I needed a safe interface for my sensors + . The RS232 interface is a "bonus" feature which could be used for any equipment using serial port, e.g. a solar system controller. Two output relays are used to trigger alarm siren or other loads.
This board + RPi with installed Home Assistant and Alarmo can fully replace an old fashioned alarm system with max 8 input channels.
