Thank you for interest to my product. Finally I made a new version of PCB for ALS318 display. It is equivalent (not drop-in) of unavailable VQD30 display.

Overview

This is the replica of legendary educational single-board computer PMI-80 produced by Czechoslovakian company Tesla (not Elon's Tesla). It is based on MHB8080A (Tesla clone of Intel 8080). I tried to make PCB design similar to original. Also all chips included in the KIT are originally made by Tesla.

Programming

The computer includes MONITOR program, which among other things, enables to enter the code into the RAM. The code is entered in hexadecimal instruction codes, for example:

So you have to make some program in assembler, for example on this page and then enter all instruction codes manually.

Why should you get one?

Although it is very tedious to enter any code to this computer, it is great tool to learn how computers work.

Assembly procedure

I recommend this order of soldering parts to main PCB:

• all sockets for IOs
• diodes, transistors and crystal
• resistors and capacitors
• use short wires to mount LCD display
• solder all 25 switches to the bottom keyboard PCB
• use extracted pins to mount bottom keyboard PCB to main board (do not cut first and last pin)
• mount keyboard overlay to first and last pin
