What is it?

A kit to make a 32k Non Volatile RAM module for the RC2014.

Why did you make it?

I wanted a way to make my RC2014 hold onto programs when powered down, to save re-entering/re-loading them after switching on. This module works the same as the standard RC2014 RAM module, except data is retained when powered down.

What makes it special?

The MG002 uses F-RAM technology, which retains data when powered down, with no need for any kind of battery or backup power source.

What's included?

A PCB and all components required are included, including sockets for both through hole ICs. A PDF with full instructions is available at the link below.

What else do I need to know?

MG003 has been designed for RC2014 with reference to the RC2014 Module Template. All pinouts used and the physical outline are in compliance with the RC2014 Module Template.
RC2014 is a trademark of RFC2795 Ltd.
MG003 has been designed for hobbyist use only and is not to be used for safety or business critical applications.
The kit requires one surface mount IC to be soldered to the PCB. As surface mount devices go, it's pretty easy, but I would recommend builders be fully confident with normal (through hole) soldering before attempting this. I am now offering an option to deliver the kit with the surface mount IC pre-soldered.

A great upgrade

I really enjoy Mr Gelee's tech RC2014 boards. This non volatile ram is the best addition, in my view, to the basic RC2014. Its simple, is great value for money and works extremely well. I found the surface mount a little tricky although the board is now offered with a pre soldered chip for a small fee. Well worth it in my view. I've been using the board for many months cycling it on and off hundreds of times and it always delivers. I would love to see a 64k version.
Delivery was extremely quick and the documentation is very clear. I contacted Jerry, the creator of Mr Gelee's tech boards, with a small query and his prompt response and interest was excellent. if there is only one upgrade you buy for the basic RC2014, get this one.
Well done Mr Gelee, you nailed another 'upgrade'.
