What is it?

A kit to make a Programmable Parallel I/O for the RC2014. It uses the 82C55 Programmable Peripheral Interface to provide 24 I/O pins, which can be flexibly configured as input or output.

Why did you make it?

Because somebody gave me the idea... It made a lot of sense, as the 82C55 is very flexible, programmable via BASIC, and provides a lot of I/O capability. The 82C55 is widely used, notably with Arduino, but also in areas such as RC2014. But nobody seems to make a general purpose 82C55 kit for RC2014.

What makes it special?

The 82C55! It's very powerful, relatively easy to program, and offers a lot of IO pins. I have built it into an RC2014 general purpose I/O.

What's included?

A PCB and all components required are included, including sockets for all ICs. A PDF with full instructions is available at the link below.

Please note I am now supplying new 82C55 I/Cs again for MG012, as they have now become available.

What else do I need to know?

I am offering the option to purchase MG012 minus the 82C55, in case buyers have one already from Arduino etc.

MG012 has been designed for RC2014 with reference to the RC2014 Module Template. All pinouts used and the physical outline are in compliance with the RC2014 Module Template.

MG012 has been designed for hobbyist use only and is not to be used for safety or business critical applications. The kit assumes basic through-hole soldering skills.
