Read More…This circuit board makes a 7 step RF attenuator using toggle switches to switch in and out a number of attenuator sections. The board includes SMD resistor sections giving individual attenuator options of; 2dB, 2 x 3dB, 6dB, 10dB and 2 x 20dB. Designed with an input and output impedance of 50 Ohms. Can be used up to VHF frequencies.
The board has two snap off sections where the SMA connectors are fitted to make a nicer mechanical finish. One example of a completed unit is shown in the photos. Will be supplied with two SMA connectors.
Note that the switches are not included. There is a huge range of switches available with a price range to match, so this choice is up to you. For best results, switches should be selected that have silver or gold plated contacts. (one example from Mouser : 506-A201P3ZQ04)
Having an attenuator with known fixed steps is handy for receiver repair and servicing.
