System requirements

Signal level

Signal level is 3.3 V.

I2S source

This board has I2S input and you should be familiar with the format prior to buying.

I2S consists of:

• Data
• Bit clock (BCLK)
• Frame/word clock (LRCK or WCLK)
• Master clock (MCLK)

The board is always I2S Master.

Supplies

• 5 V digital, 35 mA

Supply must not exceed 5.5 V.

Settings

There are jumper links to set the sample rate. Please see the factsheet for more information. Instructions are also on bottom side silkscreen of the PCB.

Note that some information is for older revision but the only change from v1.1 to v1.2 is slightly more space between RCA and Toslink, and v1.3 is green PCB.

Options

Input option

Default configuration for the board is stereo, meaning normal stereo I2S stream.

Another option is dual mono where the board works with nihtilacom ADC AK5572 AD-converter in mono mode. Two of these can be connected on the input, and SPDIF TX creates one stereo S/PDIF from two mono ADCs. This version comes with significantly higher performance oscillator and therefore costs extra.

Output option

Choose one of the two options shown in photos. RCA and Toslink can be used simultaneously. XLR is so large that Toslink cannot be fitted onboard in that option.
