LED KAPPE is a lighting solution for your garden or property, that integrates unobtrusively into an existing fence system.

No additional foundations are required and there are will be no new obstacles in your garden that will collide with footballs or robotic lawn mowers.

The light cone clearly defines the edges of your property and at night you can check everything with a quick glance.

The LED KAPPE will be plugged on top of the fence post and replaces the default protective cap. As this system is designed for durability, there are not batteries or solar cells, but additional wiring and a 12V DC power supply is needed.

The offer includes:

• 1 x LED KAPPE "front" or "back" made of plastic (ASA) for rectangular fence posts with 40 x 60 mm outer dimensions. (Inner dimensions of 36x56 to 37x57 are supported. If the steel is thicker than 2mm, please contact me)
• Default color is RAL 7016 / anthracite (Other colors possible, e.g RAL 6005 / mossgreen, RAL 9007 / metallic or RAL 9005 / black)
• Height: 7.6 cm, Width: 4.6 cm, Length: 15.0 cm
• Frosted light spreader mounted below the LED module to make the LED KAPPE visible from the side. May be removed for a more unobtrusive lighting effect.
• Splicing connectors with lever for quick connection to the power cable.

Main Variants:

The typical fence systems mounts the fence elements on just one side of the fence post.

This "screws" side will be called "front".

The opposite side where the post is plain, is called "back".

Depending on the manufacturer of your fence system, there will be an additional metal bar the same height as your fence, clamping the fence element against the post. The LED KAPPE takes this optional bar into account by an increased distance between the "front" LED and the post, so that they won't collide. The model "back" locates LED to the backside (non-screw side) of the fence post. Still, the collar of the LED KAPPE will also cover up the any metal bar located on the front. (Have a look on the last image with the red screw to see how the model "back" will include the metal bar). This results in a better overall impression.

Material:

As base material, I settled for ASA. This plastic is UV- and weatherproof and not prone to bleaching due to exposure to the sun. Every part will be shortly smoothed with acetone vapor to make it more difficult for dirt to stick to the surface. The LED KAPPE will still have the typical layer lines characteristic to 3D printing. Each LED KAPPE is 3D-printed in Germany / NRW. Regarding higher amounts, customization requests or additional installation material, I can create an individual offer!

Colors:

For the colors of the materials, I settled for the german RAL coloring scheme. So, you may also be able to get a matching color sample from your local hardware store. Please note, that even if a color is matching a specific RAL number, it may still deviate from other color samples with the same number. This is caused by different surface characteristics of even type of light (direct sunlight vs indirect sunlight vs led light).

LED module:

The light color of the LED module is 4500 K (neutral white). There is a color filter mounted on each LED module to provide 3000 K (warm white) light. You can simply switch light colors by removing the filter! I chose LED modules designed for illuminated advertising due to their exceptional durability. As ads usually work with neutral white, warm white had to be created by color filters.

Each LED module needs 12V DC and draws 1.44W of power. To run your installation, you will need a 12V DC transformer.

Mounting:

After connecting all cables, you simply stick the LED KAPPE on top of your post. It will hold itself in place. In addition, each LED KAPPE has a bracket that may be used to anchor it permanently to the post. To do so, take out the topmost screw holding the fence element and replace it with a longer screw (e.g. M8x50, Stainless steel) that will reach deep into the fence post. This screw can then go through a bore in the bracket. Please note, that the distance of this screw to the top of the post differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. I can provide the LED KAPPE with a bore matching many of the German manufacturers (57mm from top of post), or without bore, so you can drill your own hole. If you are unsure, please order without bore, so you will have all flexibility later. (In case you are interested, I can create a manual on how to easily do your own well-placed bores)

(Before ordering, please make sure that your fence systems also uses M8 screws. If the topmost screw is not located at 57 mm, you need to create the bore yourself. For bigger orders, I may create a customized bore location.)
