What is it?

It's a drop in replacement for defective 6540 ROMs as found on VERY early Commodore PET 2001 series. The device contains a flash chip holding PET ROM images and each one is lovingly configured to meet your requirements hence avoiding the need to burn your own devices. The replacement can be configured to provide either 2K or 4K and images selected as you require.

Why did you make it?

My Commodore PET 2001-8 had defective ROMs so I built this firstly to hold tester images (PETTESTER and VOSSI) and subsequently as a replacement for the unobtainium 6540s. I realised there was demand for replacement ROMs from PET owners who did not necessary want the hassle of using adapter boards and old UV EPROMs.

What makes it special?

It looks so cute due to the use of Batten and Allen edge pins which keep it to a minimum profile with a single board. Overall it is fits where the original would go without ugly adapter boards and just looks so neat! It is a small device but with sufficient skill it can be reconfigured by the end user should their needs change.
