Indispensable tool to get your PET up and running again!

Installation was a breeze thanks to the great documentation, and my PET 2001 (chiclet keyboard!) was up and running again in no time. I'm sure it will be incredibly useful to diagnose the actual problem! I already learned that known good RAM is not good anymore when put into this PET :-)

Amazing bit of kit

Although i've not used this board to its full potential I'm certainly beyond pleased with it and its build quality is superb, top marks from me.
I had a dead 2001 pet the issue was probably with the ROM or RAM, this board got it up and running straight away no fuss.
In time i will diagnose the actual issue on the main motherboard using the tools on this, but for the time being i'm just happy i have a working pet, and with the extra benefit of having maximum memory options and various basics to choose from.
I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

Thanks to this board my Pet is working now!

Thanks to the ROMulan PET RAMulation from NivagSwedna my Pet is working now. The board is easy to install and configurable. The sellers support is excellent. I highly recommend.

Works exactly as advertised. Small learning curve on options

I bought this board as a diagnostic tool because I have a non-working PET2001. I was very quickly able to get the PET to boot to BASIC with 32kb RAM, just as suggested. From there I verified all of my onboard RAM is good, so I have primarily been using the ROM features of the ROMulan. I have tried different versions of BASIC, with success (but due to an only partially working keyboard, cannot test it in depth). The included tools PETTESTER and VOSSI are helpful in my case, since I cannot checksum the 6540 ROMs using any old EPROM burner.

Figuring out the various selection jumpers configurations has a bit of a learning curve. The bank selection just stages the ROM, while the ROM enable actually puts the selections into their enabled addresses. I did not realize this at first, and worried I may have damaged the ROMulan when I could not get back to BASIC. However, the bank selection is nice for testing, since you can selectively use certain addresses of ROM from the PET motherboard versus the ROMulan. The selection jumpers are a little hard to pull out with fingers, but that is a minor nitpick.

The seller has also been super helpful communicating by email, as I worked to learn what the ROMulan was telling me, and correcting me when I was misusing it.

All in all, I am very glad I have this board!
