When prototyping boards, having to annoyingly hold the oscilloscope probe at the right angle to make contact with your test points can be tedious. With the small solderable probes this task becomes a breeze. With a pin pitch of 1mm it occupies litte space on the PCB. By creating vias with 0.4mm in diameter and a pin pitch between the trace to be measured and a ground pad/via, you can get right in there and measure the signal with ease.
