Why did you make it?

Itho sells an add-on module that takes a PWM signal to regulate the speed of the box. It's possible to hookup an ESP module to this PWM input and control the box but I wanted an integrated solution which could be plugged directly to the itho main PCB without further hardware or changes to the box.

What do you get?

Fully Assembled add-on with CC1101 RF module as kit or soldered and tested by me (please choose when you order)

The add-on is loaded with the necessary firmware, plug it into the itho, configure wifi/mqtt and you are ready to go.

This second revision adds the possibility to solder a CC1101 RF module on the back side to be able to receive itho remote RF signals. This way you can see the status of RF remote input on the add-on and in your domotica system.

Currently RF support is an experimental feature known to be working fully with at least two types of RF remotes, see supported remotes. Community support is needed to test and include support for other remotes and other RF devices like the itho CO2 sensor.

An important note about the add-on:

Itho designed their fans to give preference to RF remotes and build in RV sensors. This means you can use the original remote but if you leave the itho box in low or high setting the itho will keep that mode. It will accept commands from installed add-ons again once you set the fan back to auto/standard/medium setting or when the RV sensor gives back control. This is itho designed behaviour. Hardware revision 2 might be a way to circumvent this limitation by having RF remote signals processed by the add-on instead of the itho itself.

Models confirmed to work:

• CVE ECO 2 (this unit is also sold under the brand 'heatrae sadia' in the uk)
• CVE ECO RFT SE/SP
• CVE-S eco fan RFT
• CVE-S S CO2 (CO2 sensor not usable with this add-on)

Most important, look for the 2x4 pin interface on your main itho PCB (encircled in red on the fifth image). If this interface is present it is likely the module will work.
