The FE-5680A Rubidium frequency standard is widely available used on eBay, and is a reasonably inexpensive way to obtain a frequency standard with excellent stability. This item is an interface board that makes interfacing to the FE-5680A substantially more convenient.
The board has a 2.1mm barrel connector that accepts between 16 and 24 VDC (center positive) at 1.5A (easily obtainable from surplus laptop power adapters) and supplies the FE-5680A with +15 and +5 volt power. It has an LED that indicates when the oscillator obtains a physics lock and two SIP headers - a two pin one with the 10 MHz RF output, and a four pin one that has the RS-232 serial port and PPS outputs.
The +15V supply comes from a modified version of the Pi Power circuit, modified to supply +15V instead of +5. The +5 supply is provided by a small DPAK LDO regulator.
The board has an edge-mounted DB9F that plugs right into the module, turning the raw FE-5680A into a useful tool on the bench.
I bought a 5680A myself and needed to build one of these to press it into service on my bench.
