This is a Pi Plate built around the Adafruit Ultimate GPS module. It optionally connects the serial I/O to the Raspberry Pi serial port and connects the PPS output to GPIO #18. It has an LED on it for the FIX output, a CR1220 battery holder on the bottom to enable warm-starting the GPS after power loss, and a U.FL connector for an external GPS antenna.
I want to try to make a Raspberry Pi GPS based stratum 1 NTP server, and for those who want to do something similar, this is going to be helpful.
If you think it's expensive, note that the GPS module that it's using is $29.95 from AdaFruit. The PCB, the other parts and my labor is the rest of the price.
Note that due to the expense of the GPS module for this item, I don't plan to actually keep many of them ready-to-ship in stock. It may take a week from the time of your order for it to ship (I need to get the GPS module from AdaFruit in the mail - assembling them after that takes only a few minutes).
