Historians keep telling me that Romans did not have computers. This is absurd; obviously, this is exactly the computer that any Roman would use away from Italia, especially in Magna Germania, where larger equipment would not be carried.

What is it?

This board turns your Teensy into an SBC, practically speaking. It grants your Teensy four USB ports, high quality audio output, an Ethernet jack, a quality power source, and a 5v-compatible bus, all in a SBC-like form factor.

This board is great for building homemade game consoles, synthesizers using PJRC's wonderful audio library, an Arduino-based cyberdeck, etc. This is for anyone who likes the idea of an SBC, but prefers an Arduino environment.

Why did you make it?

I wanted a highly customizable & capable, but not overly complicated, computer system programmable via Arduino software. This way I have full control of the hardware without writing an OS from scratch, like would be necessary with typical SBCs. This environment is much easier and more stable, as well as more efficient, than systems like a Pi or BeagleBone, however the tradeoff is that you cannot run all the existing software for those systems.

I can, and have, hacked together very messy projects that have the same types of features as this. It is so much better though, to have a board like this that is sturdy, looks good, integrates the exact needed features, is well documented, and can be standardized. This board is the natural next evolution.

Additionally, this is a fun board to use, to see the limits of what is possible with microcontrollers and Arduino boards. This design is so far beyond the original intended scope of the Arduino project, and there is something fun and exciting about it.

What makes it special?

This board provides almost all the peripherals of an SBC, however requires no OS to use them. All are accessible from the Arduino environment. To my knowledge, no board has been made previously which integrated all of these features into a single board for the Teensy.

Every unit is hand assembled and tested before shipping. If you have any problem with your board, contact me. I test all USB ports, the audio jack, and power supply. I guarantee that your device works, or your money back.

As each unit is completely assembled by hand, each board will look slightly different, as I am only human.

Only the Teensy 4.1 headers, card connector header, and the I2S header are soldered. The others are left unpopulated, so that permanent wiring may be soldered to them if desired, or some keyed/locking connector. You will receive a board matching the images. Extra headers are not included at this time.
