What is it?

The OPS243-C is a 2D Doppler/speed and FMCW/range radar sensor capable of detecting speed, direction, and range of objects in it's field of view. Detection range is from 1-50m for people or cars. All signal processing is done on the board and a simple API reports out over USB, UART, or RS-232 interface. The API allows control over the data format (m, ft., mph, m/s, etc.), transmit power, duty cycle, among other things. The sensor is highly accurate at +/-1% for speed measurements and has been tested to be equivalent to police radar.

Why did you make it?

None of the radar solutions on the market were a complete solution. They required addition of a processor and writing your own signal processing code. Nor did any of them provide both speed and range information at distances up to 50m. The OPS243-C does it all, just connect into your drone, robot, or IoT system and get the data you really want. ROS drivers are available for the sensor.

What makes it special?

The simplicity of the solution and how easy it is to integrate into your system. If you can read data from a serial port, you're up and running. Reference code is available for Raspberry Pi and even an APK file for Android phone/tablet.
