What is it?

Maybe one day board makers will support a reset and bootload bus, but until then, here’s The Doof!

It pairs well with the Bootstrap breakout, too!

The Doof is a simple microcontroller reset remote. In addition to giving you a nicer reset button, it features a DFU button that will hold a bootloader pin low while triggering a reset.

Just solder connections to your board’s Reset, Ground, and Bootloader/DFU contacts and plug them into The Doof. No more pinching tiny buttons!

Why did you make it?

I got tired of small, fragile, reset switches, especially when having to hold two at a time and in the right order. My Metro ESP32-S2 board is using a display shield now so I can’t even reach the DFU button. I needed some way to reset the board remotely, preferably in style.

What makes it special?

Simple! The Doof doesn’t need extra power and it has no superfluous LEDs or controllers.

Nice to touch! Each board comes with Cherry MX switches so you can treat your digits right.

Customizable! The 3x3 pin grid allows you to mount a JST connector, header for breadboard, or a combination that suits your needs.

What is included?

You will receive one assembled PCB with two Cherry MX switches and one loose 1x3 female right angle header.

Wires and Metro not included.

This is the first run I’ve made. I plan to add Kailh compatibility as well as selling bare boards if that’s of interest.
