What is it?

This is a single layer printed circuit board, of a common emitter amplifier circuit, which has been designed to be used with a 10V DC power supply and a Q2N2222 transistor.

Why was it designed?

The board was designed as part of a student project which was undertaken in order to gain an understanding of how a common emitter amplifier works and to demonstrate how a breadboard circuit can be turned into a PCB.

Recommended Components

The PCB has been designed for use with the below components, however, the resistors and capacitors can be switched out with ones of different resistances and capacitances, respectively, if desired:

• 1 x Q2N2222 transistor (Q1)
• 1 x 82k Ohm Resistor (RB1)
• 1 x 18K Ohm Resistor (RB2)
• 2 x 470 Ohm Resistor (RE1 & RE2)
• 2 x 1uF Polarised Capacitor (C1 & C3)
• 1 x 10uF Polarised Capacitor (C4)

Five jumper connections are also present on the board. The two on the left hand side are designed for the AC power supply input and the 3 on the right hand side are designed for the DC power supply input and for connecting an oscilloscope.

The board has been designed so that all components are to be mounted via thru-holes.

The board has a silkscreen layer which indicates where the listed components above should be situated.
