Revised rear centre panel options Slowly moving the product selection to a-la-carte. It is now possible to delete the rear centre panel and add one of your choice from the store into your shopping cart. The default option will still be the classic flat panel, but with the new Mon-Tech '22 wing compatible lights, you can add which ones you'd like. This also makes managing inventory easier. If this is confusing, or there are problems, let me know.
An evolution of the RC F1 Rain Light, this is a multi-light combo that uses cues from the throttle signal to control light action. It includes the central rear light, two new vertical wing lights as per recent real-size F1 cars and a microcontroller module that plugs into the throttle port on the receiver to understand whether you're braking, at neutral, or on throttle.
It includes a fully integrated y-cable. You unplug your ESC from the receiver, plug the adapter cable into its place, and then plug the ESC into the socket on the other end of the adapter. Each of the three lights has its own silicone cabling and JST SH plug. They're small enough to fit through nooks and crannies on most chassis. The control board has three matching sockets where they can be plugged in. They can be plugged in any order or selectively left out, if you only want to use some of the lights.
The classic rear panel is the familiar 12-LED arrangement in a small 3D-printed case. The factory packs lots of lumens into these tiny blinkers so it's bright! Beginning with the HV07 release, it's now possible to dim the lighting by placing a dab of solder on a solder jumper on the back of the board. Easily reversible too!
The vertical lights each use two side-mounted LEDs on a very slim PCB and are easily attached with double-sided tape. Secret testing has seen them mounted in touring car shells too!
The default combo set includes the control module, the rear panel light, two vertical wing lights and all the required cabling that should be easily adapted to any 1/10 scale RC F1 chassis.
The entire set weighs around 7g, so shouldn't upset delicate weight distribution settings. Add in copious amounts of black wiring, PCBs, cases and heatshrink, and your black quotient will stay high, essential for contemporary RC.
Clearly, this is a logical extension of the popular RC F1 Rain Light and tracks recent changes in life-sized F1 as well as adding dynamism to the light function.
There are three patterns of 630nm illumination. Yes, all three modules emit the same wavelength of fine red photons and even though they're massless, their momentum will turn eyes at the track.
At neutral, there's a slow blink - a longish red period with a short dip to off. On throttle, the lights are off, and under brakes, they flash with an attention-seeking 4Hz high intensity pattern.
The units have been tested successfully with Sanwa, Futaba, Noble & Spektrum receivers. The only KO receiver I had brief access to wasn't successful. Due to limitations of access, I haven't been able to explore that further.
Due to global parts shortages, the design is now consolidated and all units are capable of operating with 2S or 3S setups. If your receiver is setup for either 6V or 7.4V, the unit will work with either. It will also operate with higher voltages, up to 11V.
