Read More…It is a DIY kit where one puts together a simple monostable 555 timer circuit that uses the TLC555CP timer. The kit comes with a 10M Ohm resistor and a 3.3uF capacitor for the timing circuit, but one could sub those out with their own components if they want to test out different times.
The circuit has 5 LEDs (included in the kit) that light up for about 36s when one clicks the push button. This is because the push button pulls the trigger pin of the timer to ground and then the timer circuit takes 36s to cycle.
The kit comes unassembled (for now) and contains the following.

To build it you will need a soldering iron and solder.
I made it so I could learn more about 555 timers and perhaps use them for more complicated projects.
The simplicity of the circuit makes it ideal for learning about how a 555 timer works in monostable mode.
