The PINTRONIX 6-Key Emulation Rotary Encoder with integrated microcontroller recognizes and translates 6 different rotary encoder operations into active low pulses simulating a button press on 6 different outputs:
The outputs provide generic buttons inputs that can be used to control almost anything that would expect input from a switch that connects to GND (0V) when activated. Connected to a keyboard controller or virtual pinball controller such as Pinscape it can be mapped to keys, volume control, mute, night mode, etc.
Rotary Encoder has 20 detents for a complete revolution and integrated pushbutton. On board LED provides feedback by flashing for each rotary encoder operation.
RJ45 connector enables easy and clean cabling using standard straight through network cable.
Powered from 3.3V (Can be derived from KL25Z when used with Pinscape).
Outputs are active low and send 10ms 0V pulse when triggered. On board microcontroller will ensure at least 10ms between pulses on each output. Outputs are open-drain (floating) when not active and relying on external pull-up resistors, just like a simple switch would. Outputs support pull-up to either 3.3V or 5.0V.
PINOUT:
(All outputs require pull-ups to 3.3V/5.0V just like real switches. When used with Pinscape pull-ups are already provided by the KL25Z)
PINTRONIX 6-Key Emulation Rotary Encoder Kit includes:
TO GET STARTED:
The PINTRONIX 6-Key Emulation Rotary Encoder is easy to setup, just use a regular RJ45 network cable and connect GND, connect power to 3.3V, connect outputs to an input controller such as Pinscape. RJ45 network cable can be used with included breakout board or just wired directly. Any unused output/function should be left disconnected.
When used together with the PINTRONIX PS Pinscape Controller Kit the 6 GPIO Custom Expansion/IO connector (#10 in Pintronix PS User Guide) can be used as it conveniently provides all the connections needed.
