The PINTRONIX PWM LED Driver Pinscape Expansion Board provides additional medium power outputs for DIY virtual pinball builds based on the NXP FRDM-KL25Z board running the open source Pinscape firmware.

It is primarily used to drive LEDs (button lights, etc) and the 3W RGB LEDs often used as flashers in a virtual pinball machine. To drive high power devices use the PINTRONIX PWM MOSFET Pinscape Expansion Board or the Extended Expansion Kit.

The expansion board connects to existing Pinscape controllers, such as the PINTRONIX PS, or can be used with a barebone NXP FRDM-KL25Z board. Multiple expansion boards can be daisy-chained depending on the number and type of outputs required. Connecting one or more expansion boards require only 3x KL25Z GPIO’s.

The PINTRONIX PWM LED Driver Pinscape Expansion Board features include:

• 16 optocoupled PWM driver outputs
• Double IDC connectors to easily connect to a PINTRONIX PS and/or multiple expansion boards.
• Pluggable connectors for easy access
• Expandable, add additional PINTRONIX Expansion Boards as needed.

Note: Outputs are not current limited, appropriate resistors/current regulation are required when driving LEDs.

Update April 2023: Now shipping with our custom optimized PWM driver (configured as TLC59116 in Pinscape). Spare original TLC59116 module included.
