PM Foundations supplies a range of DIY electronics for the modular analog synthesizer enthusiast and musician.

My objective is to provide DIY solutions that are better than average and comparable in sound quality and functionality to commercial pre-built units. I don't think the DIY community should be left behind and treated as if they have second-rate equipment.

For Clock Generator (Eurorack PCB Set)

Amazing little units!

For Micro VCO/LFO (Eurorack PCB Set)

I got a few of these to tune as LFOs. As a bit of background, I do mostly experimental stuff, so I went and tried to tune them to be as slow as possible, and these little things delivered! The "fastest" one cycles over 16 minutes (!) while the slowest one does about 30 minutes (!!) for a single cycle. At these low rates, the "rise" time is about 1 minute, while the "fall" time makes up the rest of the cycle. Meanwhile, they will also go up above 1kHz at their fastest setting, which means I can, continuously!, cover really, really slow cycles all the way into audio-rate modulation. I am extremely happy! With more tuning, you can easily go higher than 1kHz if you prefer.

Since mine are tuned as LFOs, I can't comment on the V/Oct tracking, but I've used them as oscillators already, and they sound really nice and are really precise! They're easy to stack to create unison/pwm-like sounds, or use them as "main"/sub" oscillator pairs. With the "fine control", you can have them beat against each other really slowly, which is great!

The build and documentation was easy and straightforward. The tuning can be tricky, but also affords quite a bit of flexibility: LFO and/or VCO, nice tracking over all frequencies, and really clean or really dirty oscillators, thanks to the "roundness" and "symmetry" trimmers!

Functional and affordable

For Dual VCA (Eurorack PCB Set)

This is a straightforward build that someone with a little experience could easily tackle.

If you use a regular, shrouded 10-pin Eurorack power connector, instead of a right-angle one, the notch faces the faceplate - don't get confused by the silkscreen.

Make sure you can source a legitimate NE5517N or LM13700 before purchasing, as the DIP version is getting harder to find.

Suggested improvements:
- Reduce the panel side of the board about 1mm so the panel rests on the jacks not the board edge.
- Use a larger footprint for the through-holes so it's easier to solder, especially on pads to ground, as it's hard to keep the iron tip off the ground plane.
- Use a 16-pin power connector so that 5V is available for DC offset calibration. Put an easily-broken trace from 5V to each CV input. Add test points for ground and the VCA outputs. This will help people perform the calibration.

Fantastic

For State Machine (Eurorack PCB Set)

I had some problems and the seller worked through them with me over the span of a few days, helping me to troubleshoot and ultimately fix the problems and get the State Machine running! I can't recommend the module or the company enough!
