What is it?

A custom, Arduino compatible controller board that uses the STM32F103 32-bit microcontroller which allows owners of factory Navi Equipped 370Z's to remove the stock Navi/stereo system and use the base model AC dial control module to control the car's climate system. Alternatively, users can implement full tablet based stereo installs and utilize software control of the AC system via an app. The target app for this project is CarDroid, which only supports USB currently as Bluetooth communication is planned future work.

This design platform is flexible and can support a range of configurations depending on what kind of aftermarket stereo/Navi solution is desired. For this version, the Bluetooth module is a separate option for this revision. Even when the project firmware supports it, not everyone may plan on using it. This also makes the board a bit more cost effective for those that don't need that interface.

This board was designed to adapt to any 370Z model year using a "universal" connector for the main input/output signals. An adapter wiring harness needs to be created to connect the board to the vehicle wiring harness. See GitHub page below.

Adapter Boards and Pigtails

I have pigtails available as Add-Ons here.

eZ Navi-Delete v2.0a supports the use of pre-crimped wiring pigtails to make the adapter harnesses. This prevents the need for special crimping tools to crimp the connector pins, which was a major complaint with v1.0a. The intent is that connectors and their mating pigtails can take care of all pin connections with simple barrel crimp or solder connections. Users with the proper pin crimping tools can still make connector to connector adapter harnesses as used in v1.0a.

Additional components such as board mount connectors and adapter PCB may also needed. Refer to the eZ Navi-Delete Adapter page to see what components are needed based on model year. Additionally, links to the components are also available in the Github Wiki.

Select the desired pigtails as Add-Ons.

Note: The wire coloring of this pigtail is intended to match the wire color of the above 6-pin Molex pigtail from the originally listed vendor in the Wiki. However, the vendor wire coloring is may not guaranteed so it is important to ensure that the proper pins are connected at both connector ends based on the pinout in the Wiki!)
• Add-On: 16-pin Molex Pigtail (Optional for User Out interface)
• Add-On: 4-pin Molex Pigtail (Optional for Steering Wheel Control interface)
• Add-On: 2" clear heat shrink sleeve (To wrap adapter boards exposed connector solder joints)

Why did you make it?

The Navi equipped 370Z uses outdated technology that is costly to keep up to date from the dealership. Removing the factory Navi system also removed access to the AC controls. Current "swap" methods to use the base model AC Dial controls in a Navi equipped model requires purchasing a base model AC AMP controller, harness splicing, and running new wire to the fuse box, which is a very invasive process. This board allows a plug-n-play solution to control the AC system over the CAN bus as the original controls did, but using alternate control options. It also allows for a fully software "Tesla" style interface if desired and can map the steering wheel controls to be used with an app interface.

What makes it special?

Its the only device if its kind and designed to be compatible with other software projects that an interface with the Nissan 370Z. I have been working on this project off and on for the past few years to update my 2009 Navi based 370Z to a modern Android based system and decided to make it available to others with a similar goal.
