InfraRed Star Network Node Single Master to Multiple Peripheral start topology network, based on 940nm infra red wave length communications.

Avoiding cables but not entering digital radio realm, IR sits somewhere in the middle where reasonable few metres distances can be achieved and not much speed is needed, these nodes are the perfect solution. They were thought as primary solution to complement DCC in small scale model trains without the use of more cables, but quickly proved themselves very useful for many other applications, like sensor readings, actuators controllers, small volume data transfers, light systems, and obviously train models actuators/receivers, etc.

The network has one master that can handle multiple peripherals in half duplex communication based in 250bps base speed over 40khz 940nm base and crc packet assurance, this way avoiding radio interference on the so much saturated high power consuming 2.4ghz band. Capable of up to 10 2-way queries per second, 8 quasi-IOs, one programable uart serial port and secondary I2C function for expansion, these are small but powerful. All modules are programable to any address in the range and can be used as either master or peripheral.
