Overview

ThinkPad USB keyboard adapter for ThinkPad T60, X41 laptop keyboards and other ThinkPad laptops that share the same keyboard. This is the PCB and receptacle only.

Details

The boards are 50x50mm. There are 2 versions available for purchase:

• ThinkClamp v0.6.2 (white)
• ThinkClamp v0.6.1 Rev 1.1 (blue)

Both boards works fine with the firmware provided. The blue board (v0.6.1) utilizes more passive components for better stability but the components are smaller (0603) and may be harder to solder. The white board (v0.6.2) uses 0805 resistors and capacitors.

The firmware can be flashed via USB for both boards using Texas Instruments MSP430 USB Firmware Upgrade Example, or for the blue board only, any MSP430 programmer that supports SBW can be also be used.

Only the PCB and receptacle is provided. Other components to complete the boards include:

All caps and resistors are 0603, except for C6 and C18, which are tantalum capacitors or 1206

Flashing

To upload a new firmware:

• Start TI MSP430 USB Firmware Upgrade Example software, click Next and accept the terms
• Unplug USB cable from device if plugged in
• Hold down BSL button, then insert the cable
• Release BSL button The software should now detect the device.
• Choose 'Select firmware' and browse to ThinkClamp_v0.6.txt
• Click 'Upgrade firmware' to flash the device
