A stackable add-on motor control board for the Raspberry Pi computer. Use it with or without the RedBoard+ robotics controller for independent control of multiple DC brushed motors - up to 6 Amps each.

Already use a RedBoard+ robot controller, but need independent control of more motors?

Building a mecanum wheeled robot? Then the MX2 is for you!

Just stack this board on top of the RedBoard+, hook up a battery and you are good to go. This board already works with the RedBoard library so it's very easy to get up and running.

Use familiar RedBoard commands:

redboard.M1(50) - RedBoard+ Motor 1 50% forwards

redboard.M2(-75) - RedBoard+ Motor 2 75% backwards

redboard.M3(100) - MX2 Motor 3 100% forwards

redboard.M4(-25) - MX2 Motor 4 25% backwards

I've included a demo program - mecanum.py. This works like the original carsteer.py program, hook up your motors then press the L1 button on your controller to toggle between 'turning' or 'strafing'.

Optional extras:

MX2 SwitchBoard

You can test the motors connected to the MX2 without any code!
Just plug in the optional MX2 Switchboard and press the buttons (you'll still need to power the MX2).

Using the MX2 without the RedBoard+

You can use the MX2 without the RedBoard+ (If you don't need all of RedBoard+ features).
Upto 4 MX2 boards can be stacked on top of each other.
You will need to solder in the optional 2x5 way pin header to the bottom MX2 board to connect it to the Raspberry Pi.
