Read More…The Pico 2 Pi is a small adaptor board which gives your Raspberry Pi Pico the format and pinout of a Pi Zero.
The Raspberry Pi Pico can be soldered directly onto the board to keep a low profile, or it can be mounted using header pins so it remains detachable (female header pins are available as an option, 40pin extension headers coming soon). The board has an on board power indicator LED and a battery input pad with reverse polarity protection. You can use batteries from 2 - 5.5 volts.
It also has a very handy Reset switch!
The Boot Select button is also brought out to a header, so if you have a Hat plugged onto the board it's still possible to change the boot mode (You'll have to solder in a some right angled pins or your own switch).
With the basic option the board comes with the surface mount components already assembled, and is supplied with a 40 pin male header which will need to be soldered to the board. You will need to supply and solder your own Pico.
I have a limited supply of Picos which will be pre-soldered to the adaptor board and will include the soldered 40 pin header.
Please note:
-Code written for Hats for the original Raspberry PI will not work with the Pico. I have already written some demo code for my RedBoard+ which I'll be posting on Github soon.
-You can now solder the Boot Select pad through the hole in the underside of the board (it's the pad closest to the version number). See picture above.
-Using the battery input will not provide power to the two 5 volt pins on the Pi pin header. If you wish to supply 5 volts to those pins you will have to power the Pico through it's USB port.
