What is it?

This little device will capture your infrared remote control signals and send the data to a FREE PC based program that decodes the information. Similar to my other decoder here, or this one here, except this product only works in IRwidget mode, not Terminal Mode.

Why did you make it?

Trying to find an original IRWidget board is next to impossible. The firmware in this device is a simplified, highly efficient program written entirely in assembly.

What makes it special?

This device captures the modulated infrared signals from an IR sensor module, and sends the data to a FREE PC based program. The PC based program then decodes the data giving you the carrier frequency, the device ID, and the commands. This item works with IRScope or IRScrutinizer. This board also contains a debug port where you can connect a logic analyzer for further diagnosis.

WHY do you want to know your remotes commands? Backing up this data is a good idea if the remote were to become inoperable or lost. If your baby drops the remote numerous times a day or your dog likes to use the remote as a play toy, a backup is crucial.   Or maybe you want to use another remote to program an air conditioner code, DVD or BlueRay Player, TV, Media Player or any Infrared device code. By knowing the protocol, the commands and the device id for a remote, you can use this data to program other re-programmable universal remotes.
