This is a PCB Kit for the "3-in-1" Upgrade Card for the Tandy 1000 EX and HX computers. It adds the following functions to these computers:

Expands to 640kb of System RAM and 96kb of Upper Memory Blocks.
Adds a 9pin RS232 Serial Port for a Serial Mouse or external Communications
Adds an XT-CF-Lite Interface to provide "hard disk" storage and an easy way to transfer games to the system.

Many of the EX and HX computers available today do not have the Tandy memory expansion module, and are limited to 256kb of system RAM. The non-standard expansion slots in these computers make expansion more difficult than a normal Tandy or other IBM-compatibles. My goal was to create an expansion module to maximize the Tandy 1000 EX and HX systems to play games designed for Tandy Graphics and Sound. It does not have provisions for any advanced functions such as VGA, Ethernet, or AdLib sound, it is only intended to add the functions above.

My board is based on several other open-source hardware projects, and has been pre-configured and optimized for the EX and HX computers. It will not work in any other Tandy model without extensive modifications. It is fully open source, and the link to the repository is below.

Please note that this is only a PCB Kit w/16C550 UART. I do have a limited number of IDE headers available as well, so if you want one please be sure to select that during checkout. This includes:

The Main PCB
The Backplate PCB with mounting tab
Custom Tandy Plus Bus connector
Brand new 16C550 UART
The 11mm tall 44x2 IDE header is available for an additional $2 while supplies last.

Great looking PCB!

The Tandy 1000 EX/HX 3-in-1 Upgrade PCB Kit comes with some really solid PCBs. The back cover PCB is a nice white to match the Tandy. The documentation for the board and all the assembly is clearly documented. Any inquiries I had were answered swiftly and with care. Good board, excellent customer service.

Breathes new life into an old system!

This card is perfect for my old Tandy 1000 EX! The included 32MB CompactFlash card comes preinstalled with the Microsoft Mouse Driver and boots MS-DOS 5.0, which is very helpful.

Works as advertised.

The device works as advertised. It brought a 256KB system up to 640K, provides a bootable IDE interface to a Compact flash and adds a serial port. A labor of love for ~33 year old systems!

Excellent Product!
