Read More…This is a deluxe measured distribution pcb, 12volt in to 4x12v, 2(4)x5v out, battery in/out (in combination with proline EF6012), all ports resettable fused (replaceable with burn through blade fuses), all optional measureable over i2c with INA219 chips.
The 12v 5.5x2.1mm or 2pin screw connector is fused with a 5A PPTC fuse; the output ports have a 2A PPTC fuse. Should you have other needs, they can be value replaced, or part replaced by a blade fuse.
The basic pcb has provisions for ina219 chip placement (see options), has dc07 2.1mm 12v in/out connectors soldered and tested. bicolor leds turn green for signalling output power present, red when the pptc fuse is blown (self healing a nmber of times), valued 5A for the DC input, 2A for the outputs.
On board a provision is made for a 5V buck converter placement, specifically a pololu dc-dc buck converter, of which the D24V50F5 is best suited. Should you have a different preference 5volt power can be externally supplied using a 2 port screw connector. A 2 pin header is present for (dis)connecting the 12v input feed to the buck converter.
Well suited as a power supply is a proline EF6012: a 12v power supply/ups with an external battery backup. Connecting the EF6012 can be done with a 5.5x2.1mm plug, or directly using the 4 pin on board connector. For direct cable connection optional screw terminals for 12/5v in can be fitted. Batery passthrough shows power level and flow.
All ports show valid supply level (green) and fuse issue(s) (red) using a bicolor led.
The PCB can be used to 'piggy pack' wimo ESP8266, raspberry pi/- zero (w),friendlyarm neo/r2s/others, only powerlines and i2c lanes are connected (a dual usb connector may pass through the databus, also the dual usb port connects to 2nd usb port on a friendlyarm neo).
This version is NOT reverse polarity protected, neither are the usb ports reverse load protected: the fuses and electronics connected should safeguard that (* maybe a newer version does when in demand).
I found out that I had too many 12 and 5 volt power supplies, not being fully used, lotsa cable clutter, no ups provisions. I my setup I have a dsl modem/voip dect fritzbox 7583 (12v), ethernet netgear gs116 (12v), kpn itv arris 5220 (12v), raspberry pi zero w (5v, i2c onboard), friendlyarm m4v2 (5v) now all connected to a ups. It saves me 5 power supplies. I now know all power used, and everything keeps on running off grid in case of a power outage.
It's one of a kind, small, flexible, solves my and maybe also your cable clutter and power supply problems.
Recommended add-ons: pololu 5v 5a dc dc buck converter proline 13.5/60W ups, direct here or via ebay Proline DC UPS 60W Uninterruptible power supply 13.8V 1A CC/CV Battery charge
The most expensive parts on this board are the INA219 chips ( US$3 each) and 5v/5A converter D24V50F5 (US$15). If you crave for soldering smd and larger parts, like to search for parts, de-select the predefined all-parts soldered and tested option.
This sale is the basic non-intelligent version (pcb, soldered pptc fuses, 5x2.1mm dc in connectors, 1x5A PPTC fuse (in), 7x2A PPTC fuse (out), 9x0.02Ω shunts, 9xbi-LED indicators, mini switch, 2xusb single ports, soldered and tested) made intelligent by the default selected option a completely soldered, cleaned and tested pcb board, extended with 9xINA219, resistors and capacitors. The basic pcb and default option selected does not include a dc in power supply. nor 5 volt converter, nor external i2c magnetic isolated grove/qwiic connector. Extra options: cover plate (complete or cut-out header space), vinyl standoffs, magnetic power & signal isolated grove/qwiic No cables are provided
Not included by default are: - a 12v power supply proline EF 6012 / ups Proline DC UPS 60W Uninterruptible power supply 13.8V 1A CC/CV Battery charge - a 5v power supply (onboard dc dc buck converter or external power supply) - grove / qwicc circuitry/connectors - 2.54mm connectors, nor circuitry of raspberry pi/friendlarm/demos w1 esp8266
Extra available are vinyl spacers and cover/bottom pcb board (no parts/wires, see pictures)
