What is it?

This kit is an add-on to the Motion-activated LED driver. It comes with the board, LED's and mounting hardware to make a 4' LED strip to light up your workspace, in the kitchen or the shop. Instructions are over on Hackaday.io and linked below. With the required tools and parts on hand, this is an easy two-day build (could be done in half a day except for allowing the epoxy to cure overnight) that results in a very helpful aid to your workspace

Why did you make it?

I wanted to light up our kitchen counters and the motion-activated feature really became addictive after living with these for a few weeks.

What makes it special?

Light is good, it helps us see things! For me and everybody that I've made these strips for, they quickly become a staple of the workspace. There are a handful of modes that allow the user to tailor the strips to their needs. For me, I love the ability to wave my hand over the counter and have it light up like magic!

The kit comes with the board, a power jack, a thermal pad and all required mounting hardware. Optionally 3D printed jigs for drilling/finishing the strips can be included or you can print your own, the stl files are on hackaday.io

Not included but required:

• Access to a drill press (it might be possible to do this with a hand drill, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it.
• Various drill bits, including some 'non-standard' bits as outlined in the build instructions
• The actual aluminium Channel and Strip (you can find these at Lowes)
• DC power supply (wall-wart)
• Thermal Epoxy
• 22AWG wire

The extra cost of including the 3D printed parts has less to do with the cost of the parts and more to do with the extra shipping costs since these parts effectively double the volume of what's being shipped. STL files for those parts are available on hackaday.io
