What is it?

This badge is not only an incredible piece of art designed by @skyehopper, but its also a ham radio fox. It is made to be hidden, and the badge will broadcast a message over VHF periodically for ham radio technicians to listen to and attempt to find based the fox on the signal strength of the transmission.

By default, this fox badge will play a short tune made up of various tones and then identify itself as a fox via morse code. This transmission lasts roughly 20 seconds. The fox then waits 30 seconds before looping and playing the transmission again. All of this, as well as the frequency the fox transmits on, can be easily adjusted in the firmware, which can be updated via USB-C.

This final round of these foxes was made in black and silver and was limited to only 100 being made. These will come with a 2000mAh battery and also include some rot13labs stickers. Once these are all gone, this fox badge design will be retired and no more of this design will be made, so this is your last chance to snag one!

Why did you make it?

These foxes were originally designed to be a game for DEFCON31 where we would hide one fox each day, and whoever found them would get to keep them. This turned out to be way more popular than we had expected, so due to the demand we decided to make more of them to sell!
