-------- P6*6W Specs --------
Created in the Schlaboratory, this 3D Printed Pinhole Camera shoots medium-format 120 film in a square format and a nominal 6x6 frame. This Thingiverse-featured design has been downloaded by hundreds of people - if you don't yet have a 3D Printer, I can supply you with either the necessary parts or a fully-assembled camera.
This is a real camera that shoots real film. Whether you are an experienced photographer or a pinhole neophyte, you'll find the P6*6 is easy to use and makes wonderful exposures. Now available in two different "focal lengths": the orignal 50mm P6*6 and the new P6*6W, wider angle 35mm version. Practical limitations prevent me from posting more photographs on Tindie, but you can view every one here. New photos posted periodically.
Don't worry if the specifications above are meaningless to you. Everything you need to know (and more) is explained in the User's Guide. While assembly appears straight forward, there are necessary steps in construction that are not obvious. Please refer to the manual for a trouble-free experience. I am always available via email for your questions or concerns.
Here's a little bit of early p6*6 promotion
Designed with Tinkercad and OpenSCAD.
Kit includes high-resolution 3D-printed parts in high-density Black ABS, all hardware, extras (incl. empty 120 spool), and a 0.30mm pinhole in 0.01 mm brass sheet stock. The P6*6 is designed for decades of service, and 3D-printing all the parts to this standard of quality requires approximately eighteen hours. Complete assembly and usage instructions available for download via Thingiverse; printed color copy available with order for $3.00. You will need glue and some simple hand tools for assembly; see User's Guide for more information (see link to "documentation").
Now includes a newly-designed body clip to secure the cap on top of the camera. Included is a spacer that levels the camera when shooting without a tripod, when placing the P6*6 on a flat surface.
I have recently designed an optional trim face for the front of the shutter assembly. This is available as an option for an additional $6.00. Select "Trim Kit" under the options menu. Includes the trim ring and a snap-fit cap to prevent unwanted exposures. For pictures and more information CLICK HERE.
If you would like a roll of B&W film with your purchase, select from options. When ordering, please indicate if you need an empty 120 film take-up spool (no charge).
You are invited and encouraged to post photos of and by your P6*6 to the Flickr 3D Printed Cameras group
Please refer to the P6*6 User's Guide for detailed explanations of assembly and pinhole photography.
Pinhole cameras do not make inferior photos; they make different photos. The P6*6 was mathematically designed with care to make high-quality exposures absent a lens. I do not believe that flaws or defects in exposure make a camera useful.
01-07-14 US Shipping price increased to $12.00. I was shipping in the cheapest possible fashion, but damage has occurred and more robust packaging costs more. Shipping charges available for the Netherlands and France. Do not hesitate to request shipping costs to your address.
3D-Printing is a time-intensive way to mass-produce a product, comparable to woodworking or other shop work. Every P6*6 Pinhole Camera is a unique, one-off creation. Unfortunately, unlike batched production of electronics, economies of scale do not bring costs down. Prices are a calculated value of time and materials.
All aspects of design and documentation subject to change with the goal of improvement. You will receive the current versions of source files. Pics will be updated as appropriate. Except for Zombie Apocalypse scenarios, backorders should be fulfilled within a week.
The P6*6 source files are freely available from Thingiverse (see link to "source code"). The P6*6 is an Open Source design, Creative Commons - Attribution - Non-Commercial license.
