All the ways you can cut LED strips which is about every 2 inches makes for fun projects, but all the soldering can get tedious. If you want to separate a 5M strip into smaller strips the easiest and quickest way to do that is to use these quick snap together connectors. As I hope you can see from the provide pictures the small plastic assembly on each end of the two wires has four contacts that are spaced just like the strips. Cut the strip carefully at 90 degrees, place the end of the strip into the quick connect and snap together. After that put shrink tape or a good wrapping of waterproof tape around the end and test for conductivity. You are done. About 2 minutes, it that!
