What is RC2014?

RC2014 is a simple 8 bit Z80 based modular computer. It is inspired by the home built computers of the late 70s and computer revolution of the early 80s. It is not a clone of anything specific, but there are suggestions of the ZX81, UK101, S100, Superboard II and Apple I in here. It nominally has 8K ROM, 32K RAM, runs at 7.3728MHz and communicates over serial at 115,200 baud.

As a bare minimum, you will need a CPU, ROM, RAM, Clock and Input/Output module. The RC2014 is designed in such a way that you can build your own modules to expand it. As such, if you have access to similar components, or have specific needs, you might not need all the items I have on offer.

What do I get?

This listing is for a kit of parts to build the Digital Input module only. For the rest of the modules, see my other products. This kit allows you to read 3 banks of 8 individual input lines from simple BASIC commands or Z80 assembly language. These lines are bought out on 0.1" header pins for you to connect to your own circuits up to a maximum of 25ma per output pin.

Choose from 2 options:

1. Full Kit - This includes all the components to build up the Digital Input module including:

header pins
chip sockets
logic chips

2. PCB Only - Yup, you guessed it. Only the bare PCB!

All components are new.

Another very good kit

Having assembled the RC2014 Pro kit, I decided to add some digital I/O to it, and after the Digital Output Module, chose the Digital Input Module.
The shipment was as quick as it could be in this Covid-world.
All parts were there and intact.
Sorting them out I discovered that the card is one with tight address decoding, but the documentation described the earlier version. Three output addresses are needed to control 24 output bits -- 0, 1, and 2. For the earlier card, every output port modulo 4 would do. Which was a waste of precious address space.
The card I got has address lines A2, ..., A7 ORed via 1N4148 diodes, so it reacts only to addresses 0, ... 3. Nice.
The card was easy to assemble and started to work at first try.
Now I have 24 bits out and 24 bits in; just have to think what to do with them... But I have an Apple //e which has parallel port but no serial port...
