It is not a clone of anything specific, but there are suggestions of the ZX81, UK101, S100, Superboard II and Apple I in here. It nominally has 8K ROM, 32K RAM, runs at 7.3728MHz and communicates over serial at 115,200 baud. As a bare minimum, you will need a CPU, ROM, RAM, Clock and Input/Output module. The RC2014 is designed in such a way that you can build your own modules to expand it. As such, if you have access to similar components, or have specific needs, you might not need all the items I have on offer.
This PCB supports 2764 EPROMs for the RC2014. Since the Microsoft BASIC is under 8k, if you have an RC2014 and access to a 2764 EPROM and an EPROM programmer then this would be ideal for you.
This listing is for two bare PCBs only. No EPROM, connectors or sockets are included.
As the RC2014 only needs an 8k ROM to run, I designed this board with the 2764 EPROM in mind. It works great and does exactly what I wanted it to do. However, these ICs have been obsolete for several years now and I cannot find a reliable source of new stock. Therefore, this board is not commercially viable for me, so I am selling off the PCBs I have left. There are still a bunch of 2764s around, and you can often find them on eBay, or reclaimed from old kit, so it is not useless.
A much better alternative is my switchable ROM module, which takes a 64k 27C256 compatible device, of which there are several alternatives currently available. This module segments the 64k in to 8 banks of 8k, selectable via jumpers
