Why was it created?

Particle-IoT designed this product to simplify the testing and debugging process for teams working with embedded SIM designs. Many developers face compatibility challenges between different SIM providers, and building full hardware setups can be costly. Fortunately, most providers offer the 4FF SIM, and this adapter bridges that gap.

This adapter is also incredibly useful during CE or FCC certification. When testing cellular IoT devices, labs typically require a connection to a local call box, like the R&S CMW500. Most IoT modules with embedded SIMs don't provide an easy connection for the call box's SIM. While other test SIMs from providers like Comprion exist, they are often expensive and hard to access.
