DIY WiFi Thermal Imaging Camera Introduction

This is a super-portable DIY thermal imaging camera I built. It connects via WiFi and allows real-time thermal image viewing directly in a web browser. Whether on a computer, smartphone, or any device with a browser, you can access it without the need for extra software.

📌 Design Purpose

The main purpose of this project is to quickly locate overheating or faulty components during PCB hardware debugging. Compared with expensive professional thermal imagers, this DIY solution is lightweight, low-cost, and easy to use anytime.

Resolution: 32 × 24 (based on the thermal sensor’s native resolution)

Image Scaling Algorithms:

Bilinear interpolation

Nearest-neighbor interpolation

Multiple preset resolutions available

Image Post-processing:

Gaussian blur

Multiple color mapping effects: Rainbow, Thermal, Inferno, Turbo, etc.

Temperature Measurement:

Real-time measurement

Automatically highlights the hottest area in the frame

Hardware Design:

Enclosure size: 43 × 30 × 15.3 mm

Ultra-compact, can be used as a keychain

Power on the device and connect to its WiFi hotspot

Open a browser and enter the device address

View the thermal image in real-time and choose different scaling or display modes
