This listing contains my v2.x soldering iron controller in a DIY kit form. This version (in assembled form) was featured on a Mailbag episode by David Jones from EEVBlog.

These are pulled from new old stock (superseded by the new model) or repaired units. Everything is tested and in working condition. A DIY manual will be provided to your e-mail.

You'll get (included)

• 1x Soldering Iron Controller v2.x PCB (with components, in working condition.)
• 1x 128x64 OLED display
• 1x Rotary encoder with breakout board
• 2x 4-pin 10cm cable (for display and rotary encoder)

Please note that

• Headers and/or terminals may or may not come soldered to the PCB (but it'll always be included).
• Rotary encoder ships randomly as flatted [D-type] or knurled shaft type.

You'll also need (not included)

• a power supply (DC, 24V, ~100W for Hakko and ~200W for JBC),
• suitable iron handle, iron handle connector and tips of your choice,
• ANOTHER soldering iron for soldering cables to the aforementioned connector.

PCB General Specifications and Features

• Works with 9-25V DC. Recommended input voltage: 24V DC. Lower input voltages results in slower heating.
• Supports Hakko T12 / T15 and JBC C245 tips. You need to use suitable handpiece connector for your choice and select the tip type from the menu afterwards. GX12-5 (for Hakko) and Hirose (for JBC) sockets are available for purchase.
• PCB can deliver up to 10A/200W heating power. (for C245 tips, T12 tips will use less power because of higher internal resistance)
• Sleep: Selectable intervals or can be disabled.
• Power limit: You can limit the maximum heating power on demand. This enables using very small DC bricks/batteries; heating takes longer but you can finish the job.
• Power-on temperature: Options available for leaded/lead-free solder types and more. It can remember the last used temperature as well (default setting).

• This product was not open source so no design files or software will be provided.
