What is it?

This Buck-Boost converter break-out board is the perfect companion for your ESP32 or ESP8266 project. It is based on the Texas Instruments TPS63031 chip and can convert input voltages between 1.8V to 5.5V into an output voltage of 3.3V to power your ESP32 or ESP8266 with an efficiency of up to 96%! In step down mode (VIN = 3.6-5.5V) it can provide a current of 800mA. In boost mode (VIN > 2.4V) the current can reach 500mA.

In the design of the board, we wanted to give you all the freedom for integration into your own project. Which is why we made the EN (enable) pin accessible as a pin-out as well as a solder bridge pad. You can also decide if you want to enable the power-save mode with a solder pad.

Why did you make it?

Not every IoT project with ESP32 or ESP8266 should be powered with a LiPo battery. Sometimes it's nice to just take two AA batteries and wire them up to your MCU. But LDOs are not very efficient and they only work if the input voltage is above a certain level of the output voltage. This little board can provide your ESP32/ESP8266 and similar boards with 3.3V for a great range of input voltages.

What makes it special?

It has a very small form factor and can be easily integrated into any project. The solder pads let you choose if you want to enable the board and if you like to run with or without the power saving mode. To safe space we didn't solder the pin headers but provide them in the package.
