Today's society demands a lot of us, to the point where it's almost considered rude to communicate that you haven't got the energy to do absolutely everything anyone demands of you. If you're neurodivergent and/or disabled, it can be even more difficult.

Enter Spoonbot! A pin-on badge with a potentiometer that allows you to indicate where your energy levels (social and otherwise) are at any given time. 6 energy levels (from zero to 5 LEDs) in a gradient from red across amber to green, to let people know how you're feeling and whether it's a good idea to ask more of you - without having to work out a way to communicate these things verbally.

As soon as we found out about full-colour printed PCBs we knew we had to put a robot on one. We know from personal experience how difficult it is to express your energy levels, especially when disability and/or neurodivergence are involved. So Spoonbot was born, to help communicate these things and hopefully to help us all think a little more consciously about our energy levels before promising to do things we really haven't got bandwidth for.

This is something we feel strongly about, and so is the concept of sharing resources as widely as we can. Enabling others to make things is literally the point of STEAMengineers, so naturally Spoonbot is OSHWA registered. If you do make one of your own, we would absolutely love to see it, but obviously that's optional!

We dream of a day when society becomes more aware and inclusive of people with variable energy levels, but in the meantime... Spoonbot is here to help!
