What is it?

This is a Raspberry Pi Zero audio board. It uses the same PWM audio circuit as the Model B so does not require drivers. The PWM audio pins need to be remapped in the Pi Zero, see https://learn.adafruit.com/introducing-the-raspberry-pi-zero/audio-outputs for details. The onboard amp can be enabled using a jumper J2 if (and only if) speakers are connected to J3. Note: Powering the amp without speakers can damage the amp. Also connecting or disconnected the amp power while the Pi is powered on will reset the Pi.

Made to add audio to some Raspberry Pi projects (Halloween props)

What makes it special?

Comes pre-soldered, includes a 3.5mm stereo jack and a PAM8403 3W audio amplifier. Note: The 3.5mm socket and the amp are both directly connected to the PWM circuit output so using both at the same time may atenuate the audio signal.
