Cryptocurrency is a fascinating subject, but getting into it now is pretty useless. The amount of mining power you need to profit from it doesn't cover the cost of the electricity you use. But, luckily a young man named Robert Piotrowski has come up with a way to mine cryptocurrency on Arduinos, Raspberry Pis, ESP8266 and ESP32, and even your laptop or old cell phone. And here is the best part: It uses a system called Kolka, which rewards lower power devices more than high speed processors, so mining on an Arduino is more profitable than on your high end laptop.
This opens the world of mining to everyone. I recommend checking out his site (https://duinocoin.com/) and see what it is all about. I really like experimenting with different setups to mine and I created a rig that can power 8 ESP-01s. Each one can be programmed with the mining code and the rig can support up to eight (the voltage regulator limit is 800mA). It is an inexpensive and fun way to introduce yourself to mining.
The ESP-01 has a breadboard-unfriendly footprint, so this power rail can be a handy power supply to your ESP-01 project.
This is supplied as a kit that needs to be soldered. It includes the PCB, 8 sockets, a power connector, a USB supply cable, and an AMS1117 3.3VDC regulator board. The PCB has a place for decoupling capacitors (not supplied) but I found they are not needed. ESP-01 boards are not included but widely available.
The cable can be plugged into a phone charger or a wall transformer can be plugged into the power socket. The input is 4.75-12VDC.
This is a great kit for mining or any project that uses ESP-01s.
