The Starship is an Arduino shield that, when used with the included curriculum, will expose the user to many aspects of STEM education. It is filled with lights, a speaker, an accelerometer, light sensor, temperature sensor, a color sensor, and a push button for user input.

You will start by learning digital electronics by programming a shift register to light the lights and power up your Power Pods.

You will learn about the reflectance of colored light as you use three colored LEDs and a light sensor to distinguish colors.

You will calculate the flight time past each planet if flying from the sun to Neptune in a minute and create an animation on the Starship to indicate when each planet is passed. I bet you will be amazed at how close the inner planets are compared to the outer giants.

You will practice landing on an alien planet using the Starship Landing Simulator that you will derive the equations of motion for and program. Can you land softly before running out of fuel?

When finished, the user will have the knowledge to program all kinds of missions into the Starship. The sky is no longer the limit!
