What is it?

OpenAmiga600RamExpansion is an Open Hardware 1 MB Chip RAM Expansion for the Commodore Amiga 600 Computer with optional Real Time Clock.

Why did you make it?

The Amiga 600 computer by Commodore originally came with 1 MB of Chip RAM. Like all "compact" Amiga models, it has a trapdoor in the bottom, through which a memory expansion can be installed, bringing the chip RAM to a maximum of 2 MB.

Back in the day, some expansions also came with a Real-Time Clock (RTC), which allowed the Amiga to keep track of the current date and time, which is most useful if you use AmigaDOS a lot.

OpenAmiga600RamExpansion is an Open Hardware implementation of such an expansion, including the RTC.

What makes it special?

OpenAmiga600RamExpansion is Open Hardware. If you make any modifications to the board, please contribute them back.

What's included?

If you buy the component kit, this is what you will get:

1xTrapdoor Connector
6x100nF 0805 Capacitor

Note that RAM chips are NOT included by default, if you need them, make sure to select them among the product options!

You can also get sockets for the RAM chips as an option. Note that these are not easy to solder!

The Led Kit includes:

1x0805 Led
1x0805 Resistor

The RTC Kit includes:

1xRTC62421 Chip
1x18-pin Socket
3x10k 0805 Resistor
2x220 0805 Resistor
1xBAT54C Diode
1x100nF 0805 Capacitor
1x10uF 1206 Capacitor
1xCR2032 Holder

Note that these kits are not suitable for the faint-hearted, since they require soldering some surface-mount components (0805 and SOJ-40 packages).
