What is it?

The BrownHat is a USB to Serial converter that can be used to connect the Hat side of an IoTT Stick to the USB port of a computer. In combination with a Loconet Interface breakout board connected to the interface side of the Stick, it forms a LocoNet to USB interface to connect a computer running JMRI or other software to Loconet.

Why did you make it?

So far, connecting the IoTT Stick to an USB port was only possible using an FTDI programmer or similar interface. Now, there is a proper hat that simply can be clicked on, not requiring any jumper wires.

What makes it special?

The BrownHat function module for the IoTT Stick is part of a modular design family using communication modules and function hats as well as a highly configurable software that can serve as core for a variety of model railroad control tasks.
